Radii Internal Throttle and Clutch Assemblies

By Jason Van Wyhe

Want to really clean up the apprearance of chopper handlebars? Internal throttle and clutch setups are the answer Basically, you run your cables through your handlebars, and use a special internal setups to actuate them.

Radii is one of V-twin's house brands. They offer internal clutch and throttle assemblies that are decent quality at a low price. The twist action on these is relatively smooth, and I haven't had much trouble with cable's binding. They're made out of good quality materials, and are well engineered. And at roughly $60 each, the price cannot be beat. They are made for 1" handlebars, and you do need to cut your handlebars to make them fit.

There are several drawbacks to them, however. First, the instructions with them are non-existant. Nothing. Nada. The only instructions offered are those on the product listing in the V-twin catalog, which are pretty vague to say the least. Second, I'm not overly impressed with the bearings they put into them. They're cheap Chinese setups that go bad quickly. Replacements are available directly from V-twin, or take it to just about any bearing supply house or some autoparts stores and get a better quality bearing setup for under $10.

But at half the price of most of their competitors, they really are a pretty decent setup.
