Custom Chrome Low Tunnel Gas Tank Review - Porkers Tech Tips
By Robert Bane
Need a good quality peanut tank to frisco? Try Custom Chrome's Low Tunnel Gas tank.
It's a simple, inexpensive sportster-style tank. The construction is good, although not spectacular. The key feature for a chopper or bobber builder, it has an 1-1/2" frame tunnel rather than the normal depth. This allows you to mount it with a "frisco look" without having to modify the tank's tunnel. It holds 2.8 gallons, which isn't bad for this style tank. The dimensions are 15-1/2" long x 9" wide 7" high, and uses a 3/8" threaded petcock. It has frame tabs front and rear for easy mounting. And the best part is, you can get them for around $90. It comes unfinished raw metal.
The only real drawback is that it comes with the older style cap mount - you can't use an aircraft cap or screw in. But other than that, it's a slick little tank that's worth a look at.
